DAY 1: BLANC-SABLON / OLD FORT / RIVIÈRE-SAINT-PAUL (80 KM)

When in Blanc-Sablon, head for the Visitor and Interpretation Centre to learn a bit about the community and its history. Hike of the nearby trails, complete with interpretive panels. Drive to Middle Bay Interpretion Centre for the illustrated history and heritage of the village, artifacts and images (and a café!). Next stop is at the end of this orphaned section of Route 138, in the village of Vieux-Fort (Old Fort).  Hiking trails north of the village lead to the fabulous observation point of Granny's Hill. Drive back to the village of Rivière St-Paul for a boat ride in the archipelago with a real “Coaster”, an old salt with compelling stories to tell you while you picnic on a rocky island. Picnic lunch with Coaster Supper and overnight at inn, breakfast included.
