Day 1: Blanc-Sablon | Old Fort | Rivière-Saint-Paul (80 km)

Upon your arrival in the region of Blanc-Sablon, you are invited to stop at the welcome and interpretation centre to familiarize yourself with the services offered as well as learn about this region’s history.

Afterwards, we recommend that you explore the different trails situated near Blanc-Sablon and equipped with interpretation panels. The “Sentier de l’Astragale” is a 2.5 km long intermediate level trail. It is found at the summit of Mont Parent. This trail was developed to protect the Astragalus, a rare plant. We also recommend the trail “Sanctuaire de la Vierge Marie” where you will have multiple views of the entire village. This trail offers a magnificent view of the village. This trail is 0.5 km long, developed for novices. Lastly, we also suggest that in your free time you take a walk to the belvedere of “L’Île aux Perroquets” for a great view of the island. This trail is located between Blanc-Sablon and Brador. It covers 1.5 km.

After exploring our hiking trails, we invite you to head out along the highway towards Middle Bay. The Middle Bay Interpretation Centre acts as the gateway to the village of Middle Bay. You will find a permanent exhibit on the history and heritage of the village and the region, illustrated by artifacts and images. Paintings and handmade model ships are just a few of the various objects that showcase the local traditional talents. You may want to consider eating a little something because this little museum also has a restaurant.

As your exploration continues, it will lead you to the end of road 138 west and the village of Vieux-Fort. Here you could take a stroll along the seaside promenade of this charming village. You will walk alongside an ancient cemetery that has recently been restored. Several hiking trails to the north of the village will lead you to the fabulous observation point of Granny’s Hill. At the end of the afternoon, we invite you to drive back to the village of Rivière-St-Paul.

You have the choice of ending your event-filled day in the charming family atmosphere of the Waterfront B&B or the entirely renovated Whiteley Inn.

Meals are not included.

Day 2: Rivière-Saint-Paul | Blanc-Sablon (70 km)

Breakfast included. Your day starts with a 2-hour boat excursion in the Rivière-St-Paul archipelago in the company of a boatman/history buff. During this excursion you will discover the beauty and uniqueness of the region.

When you return from your outing among the multitude of islands, we invite you to continue your journey of discovery by visiting the Whiteley museum, where you can not only learn about the region’s history but also enjoy something to eat. After lunch, continue your exploration and head to I&S Seafoods, a marine products processing plant. An experienced employee will show you the functions of a processing plant. The community of Rivière-St-Paul is very dynamic. The head office of the Lower North Shore Bio Products Solidarity Coop can also be found here. This cooperative has begun the process of processing the region’s berries. You will have an opportunity of visiting the cooperative in company of a devoted member.

After driving a few kilometers in the direction of Blanc-Sablon, you will find the scallop farm, Aqua-Labadie, in Salmon-Bay. A one-hour guided tour is scheduled as part of your program. Upon your return to Blanc-Sablon you can discover the Brador falls.

Lunch and dinner are not included.

Accomodation at Lourdes-de-Blanc-Sablon in the Quatre Saisons inn or at Hôtel Blanc-Sablon.
