Enjoy an ecotourism stay with a guide-interpreter in the parks of Anticosti. The island is filled with treasures, waterfalls, fossils, and mysterious caves.
This program offers the opportunity to fly over the Mingan Islands National Park Archipelago and land on what can rightfully be called the Saint-Lawrence’s flagship, a small continent in itself at the heart of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
You will see what remains of the first establishment of the famous French chocolatier Henri Menier, who made this majestic island his kingdom. An island once nicknamed the “Cemetery of the Gulf” due to the many shipwrecks that occurred there.
Your guide will take you to see the natural attractions of the island’s Centre and West, including the village of Port-Menier (230 inhabitants). You will inevitably encounter white-tailed deer, and you will have the chance to feed them by hand while enjoying your morning coffee!
Departure from Havre-Saint-Pierre by plane or boat.
The flight duration is 15 minutes, and you’ll be able to see the Mingan Islands Archipelago as you depart from Havre-Saint-Pierre.
Upon arrival at Port-Menier, transfer to your lodge. Free time to visit the village and the Écomuseum, located in the church, which brings the island’s history to life and showcases its ecological and fossil environments. You will have time to wander through the shops.
1:30 p.m.: Departure for a 3-hour excursion in the island’s western sector. Visit the former village of Anse-aux-Fraises, the former village of Baie Ste-Claire, and the Pointe Ouest lighthouse. Enjoy a seaside hike before returning to your lodge in the late afternoon.
Guided excursion to Anticosti National Park (160 km from the village). A short hike through Observation Canyon, followed by a local-flavoured picnic above the majestic Vauréal Falls, with a stop at the Carleton lighthouse and Baie de la Tour. After a busy day, return to the village of Port-Menier in the late afternoon.
Transfer to Port-Menier airport or the dock for your return to the mainland.

Remember:
There is no cell service on Anticosti or between Sept-Îles and Thunder River, except for Wi-Fi hotspots provided by municipalities. In Minganie, only the villages of Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan, Mingan, Havre St-Pierre, and Natashquan have cell service. Not all villages have gas stations, and distances can be long.
Plan to refuel in villages that offer gas services before heading to the next destination. Some villages have charging stations for electric cars. Be cautious while driving.
