There are many ways to appreciate the stunning landscapes of Anticosti and to discover its rich wildlife and flora. Whether you want to relax or explore the island and its surroundings, you’ll be enchanted!

Geology:
Anticosti Island is mainly composed of limestone rocks that are 415 to 500 million years old. Due to unique physical conditions and chemical reactions, these sediments have fossilized and can now be seen in the rock. The island’s fossil-bearing areas are considered among the richest in the world, and the specimens are often exceptionally well preserved. However, it is forbidden to bring them back to the mainland.

On the day of your arrival, try to make your way to the Lodge early to travel in daylight, as distances can sometimes be long.

Be cautious when driving on the roads; wildlife is abundant. Your vehicle is equipped with a radio that will allow you to communicate with the Sépaq Anticosti team if needed.

You’ll likely find that the size of the island exceeds your expectations. To make the most of your stay and fully enjoy the natural beauty and richness of Anticosti, visit the McDonald Service Centre to plan your activities and save time when travelling around. Don’t worry, it’s impossible to see everything on a first visit.

If you pass by, plan ahead and fill up:

• Chicotte-la-Mer Service Centre: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• McDonald Service Centre: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Village of Port-Menier: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dining: At McDonald Lodge and Port-Menier Lodge
Delicious meals are included in your package and are served in the large dining room of the lodge. Without additional cost, lunch boxes for your daily excursions will also be prepared.

• Hike in the Vauréal Canyon
• Stop at the Vauréal Falls lookout
• Hike the Les Pins-Blancs trail
