Day 2Rivière-Saint-Paul | Blanc-Sablon (80 km)

Visit the Whiteley Museum, named after William H. Whiteley, who invented the cod trap that revolutionized fishing across Eastern Canada. The museum commemorates many other individuals who left their mark on the region, from prehistoric Indigenous hunters and 16th-century Basque whalers to 19th-century missionaries and 20th-century residents.

You will take a guided tour of the Salmon Bay Farm, an exceptional aquaculture site in the municipality of Bonne Espérance. Learn about scallop farming techniques on land and/or at sea in its natural environment.

On the way back to Blanc-Sablon, stop at Brador Falls, protected by an endless labyrinth of low-lying rocky islands. The high hills surrounding the community provided shelter to the early pioneers, making it a central place for fishing, hunting, and trade, as it was abundant with cod, herring, mackerel, salmon, seals, and whales. Accommodation in Blanc-Sablon.
